Ad Blockers

If you are using an ad blocker, it may be blocking your access to images. 

Hi, I'm Laura, co-founder of Tesseract Mobile, and host of the MonAI daily prompt challenges on Instagram. I'd like to clear up a few misconceptions about AI art generation.

Is the art created on my phone?
No. The artworks are created on our servers. These are fast GPUs hosted in the cloud. The GPUs cost money. The electricity to power them costs money. 

Is the art stored on my phone?
No. The images are stored on our servers unless or until you download them. Even then, the artworks are still stored on our servers unless you delete them. This storage also costs money. 

If every image costs MonAI money, how can you afford to offer image creation for free?
We show ads to offset the costs of rendering artwork. We also offer subscriptions for those who would prefer not to see ads.

The ads are boring and repetitive. Can't you get some better ads?
We are a small 2 person company. We'd rather devote our limited resources to bringing you better features in the app.

If the ads are so important, why don't you show the ad BEFORE rendering the art? That way, you'd only be rendering art to people who'd seen the ad.
We know you don't want to wait through an ad THEN wait for your art to render, so we show the ad WHILE your artwork is being created. That way, it costs you nothing to let the ad play.

Don't you have corporate funding? Aren't you backed by some big tech investors? 
No. Josh and I are funding MonAI with our own personal credit cards.
 

There has been a recent issue of incompatibility between an ad blocker and the MonAI app. Customers who had been using MonAI with an ad blocker are no longer able to do so. The ad blocker is blocking access to our image database. 

I had not realized how many people were using ad blockers until they started coming to our Discord to complain. I am writing to implore you, please don't use ad blockers with MonAI. Art generation costs us money. This is not a big corporation with huge margins that can absorb the loss. We are just two people working every day to bring a quality app at a reasonable price, trying our best to stay in business.
